It All Started on the Road!
The idea for Likeplan was born on a road trip through Australia. Traveling solo is exciting, but can also feel lonely at times. That’s when something magical happened—I met my partner, Marco, in the middle of the breathtaking Daintree Rainforest. It all started with a simple request to take a photo at the lookout (though the photo wasn’t great, the ones I took of him were much better!).
With plans to return to Tasmania, and Marco’s dream to see the “island of an island”, we teamed up for a 5-day journey, driving from Cairns to Tasmania. Rising fuel costs made us realise we needed a third traveller to share the expenses. After unsuccessful attempts to find someone via Facebook groups, we were fortunate to reconnect with a fellow adventurer we had met in the rainforest who was heading in the same direction.
The Spark of a Dream
This experience reignited a dream I’d had since I was 22: creating a travel app that connects like-minded adventurers. Life’s challenges—losing my mom, building a career, and establishing financial stability—had put that dream on hold. But then fate intervened: I came across Likeplan, an app started in the Netherlands that was up for sale. I thought, This is it! The perfect opportunity to bring my vision to life. I knew I couldn’t let it slip away.
Redefining Likeplan
Fast forward a year, I became the owner of Likeplan. Balancing my full-time role as a hospitality solutions consultant, I dedicated myself to transforming Likeplan into the go-to app for travellers in Australia.
During this exciting journey of growth, Marco and I embarked on a new adventure. This time, we traded wheels for sails, navigating our boat through the Bass Strait—one of the world’s roughest oceans—on a journey from Tasmania to the Gold Coast. It marked the start of an exciting new chapter, both for us and for Likeplan.
The Vision Behind Likeplan
I’m not saying you’re supposed to meet your life partner on your travels, but what I am saying is this: you never know what life has in store for you unless you go out and explore. Travel isn’t about the places you see; it’s about the people you meet along the connections that change your life.
Likeplan was created to capture that magic – to make it easier for everyone to connect, explore, and share unforgettable adventures.
